The MacGregor West board held its annual meeting in April and elected 3 new board members. Your neighborhood board members for this year are Kim Carlton-President, Sharon Robinson-Vice President, Martine Jhavbala-Treasurer, Tony Ryzinski-Web Master, Nanette Sawaia- Landscaping /Grounds, Donna Worsham- Social/Architectural, Magaret Carey. The attendance was minimal however the discussion was beneficial for all.
We heard comments about our block captain communication system and how effective it is working. Neighbors find it easy and informative. There was some requests for the board to explore other ways of communication for those that dont use internet. The board will review the various alternatives in the near future.
Tony Ryzinski spoke about the new MacGregor West web site and discussed the benefits it will offer our neighborhood. If you havent registered on the new web site please check it out at www.macgregorwest.com.
Donna Worsham discussed current and future social events for the neighborhood. The perennial exchange was a huge success and we thank Margaret Sophie for hosting this years event. Everyone in attendance at the meeting stated that they missed not having a Christmas event last year. The board would very much like to resume the annual holiday event, however, we must find a neighbor willing to host the party in their home. Please check out the Social Committee section for more details.
The architectural committee has been busy approving new projects throughout the neigh-borhood. As a reminder, if you are planning for home improvements be sure to review the architectural committee section of the website.
The 2009 budget was reviewed at the meeting and the Board continues to talk about the desire to have Phase I join our homeowners association. This has and will always be an ongoing issue for our neighborhood as it pertains to our budget. We had approximately 22% of Phase I participate this year which helps with projects outside our budget.
I want to share information with you about the proposed highway 64 project. A group of concerned citizens has formed a committee to bring awareness of the proposed highway expansion. Make sure you review the web site http://save64.org in order to get up to date information on this proposed project. NCDOT has given a deadline of June 5 for public response so time is of the essence for you to voice your opinions. I urge each of you to visit this web site soon.
Lastly, summer is approaching and children will be out of school. Please be on the lookout for each other as good neighbors. We take pride in our neighborhood and work hard to make it a wonderful place to live.
